Who, What, Why?

Hello humans,

Well this has been a week, that much is certain. Creatively I have been at a high not reached in years, mentally I'm drained, and financially I'm fucked. So fun, fun, fun for everyone! Now this is not going to devolve into me begging for financial aid from the internet, for starters I have nowhere near a following to warrant such a thing; all this means is I have to double my efforts to find new employment, having being out of work for little over a month now is truly starting to take a toll. Having said that, Andrew is employed now (he actually got the job offer the day I was fired, at the same company no less) so at least income is a thing. The panic that has come from all of this however I something I could not have anticipated, and I do feel truly awful for having hidden some details about how far up shit creek we've been from the other half.

Enough of that though, let's have some slightly more lighthearted stuff. I've talking to a few people recently who I haven't spoken to in long long times. This has resulted in a hopeful, possible collaborative effort between myself and a friend of a certain isle, however I'm saying no more on this in case (as usual) I say something only to then encourage the event to never happen.

As of time of writing, Andrew and I are gearing up for a new venture we've been dancing around doing for a while now, we will be watching and reviewing every episode of "New Who" starting with 2005's 'Rose'. I'm not yet sure on how often this will be, and I did want to start with the Hartnell/1st Doctor but I'm sure I can get u round to that in time.

The gaming channel is going strong with 'The Clone Wars' wrapping up after a little break during the week, The French Ambassador is finally reaching Whiterun and embarking on what I'm told is an actual adventure, and there are a few little games on the horizon including the brilliantly frustrating Mini Metro, which should be live tomorrow.

This past week has also seen the eventual arrival of interactive week, which was something I was so excited about prior to the removal of annotations from YouTube, but after the 2nd of May (and me failing to have any ideas filmed, rendered and uploaded in time) I had to rework some ideas. The result was me forgetting the thing was even planned until the 17th, an entire day after interactive week was meant to commence, so another well executed idea from me there. I have one video idea left to go out, as well as recycling an older video which is currently set to private, so that's something mildly fun.

I have Doctor Who to watch now though, lest the wrath of Andrew befall me for not vacating the blog with adequate swiftness.

thanks for reading, and I'll see you in the future.

Resurrection: Day 100

Hello humans,

Well it has been a while hasn't it. Far too long since I last blasted nonsense onto the internet in text form, and yet here I am at it again. How marvellous.

So what has occurred since I was last here. I restarted CPLP, which is currently going well with at least one new gameplay video a day (not too bad if I say so myself), and the main channel/vlog place thing is alive once more and has been featuring new daily content for the past 100 days. Yeah that's right 100 days, I can barely believe it.

But let us not focus on the past, instead we shall look to the future disappointments I can aim to bestow upon you. Tomorrow should see the arrival of two new videos on CrazyPilf (that's double the regular daily amount! aren't you lucky!)

CPLP be finishing up Star Wars:The Clone Wars this week as well as continuing my feeble attempts at Skyrim where The French Ambassador may finally encounter one of the supposed dragons in terrorising the land. There is also Smash Bros. madness lurking on the horizon, so everything is looking rather mad and merry.

I realise this is rather brief, and I had in actuality planned for something a bit greater to commemorate this insignificant moment, but circumstances and time prevent such frivolity. In place of raucous celebration, I instead present to you this little clip from The French Ambassador's journey through Skyrim, and I believe it is something which we can all relate to.

See you in the future.

100 ~ 002

Hello humans,

As I write, the finale of Gravity Falls is fast approaching. I don't watch a lot of TV these days, most (if not all) of my entertainment is taken from the internet. something which drew looks of both shock and disgust from someone trying to get me to sign-up to satellite TV, I'm too lazy for that crap. But this charming little cartoon has kept me entertained over the past few years. Like Doctor Who, Sherlock, and the Eurovision song contest, Gravity Falls has always left me wanting more. What'll I do now...

See you in the future.

100 ~ 001

Hello humans,

It has not been the greatest start to the year, especially with some beloved figure passing on every other day. With this I have found it hard to even bring myself to create once again. Laziness is the only true excuse. However, pointless tasks have been conjured from the mildly sensible corners of my mind; tasks such as this, which may in time lead to some element of focus. There are great spreadsheets and notepads, diaries and lists detailing what should be done, how, and when by. Maybe I'll get around to that.

See you in the future.

Amiibo, Nintendo, And Other Games

Hello humans, how be you? Good I hope.

Let's Plays are a thing, and they're something I enjoy both watching and creating. I'm rather crap at the latter, in part due to my lack of adequate gaming skills despite my youth been spent in front of a console or pc. Yet that has not stopped me, in fact thanks to Nintendo I've crafted a rather thrilling video series full of Amiibo. Yes I've jumped on that bandwagon, and over the next few days you can see these finely trained (some better than others) characters beat ten bucket loads of crap out of each other. For fun, for sport, for the thrill of conquest; call it what you will but there's something oddly satisfying about watching Donkey "Dankey Kang" Kong and Princess "BintFace" Peach, assault classic characters.

Games, Games, Games

Hello humans, as you#ve probably already gathered I like games. I like games A LOT. I was raised with a Sega Master System and later a Mega Drive, followed by an N64 (and my grandad's PC with various games like Chip's Challenge and DOOM) all of which have left a lasting impression on me. This is why I am determined to continue to throw out Let's Plays. Now they may not be the most entertaining but I strive to better myself and with external support I hope to develop into a somewhat capable and entertaining person.

With this in mind I have taken great strides recently to develop interesting content. Right now I am in the process of capturing footage from Smash Bros. WiiU for an 'Amiibo Tournament' which should be pretty damn fun if you don't mind me saying so.

I've also tried to break free from my obsession with Sonic to actually record, edit, and upload more videos. I hope that my wasted hours on electronic entertainment enthrall you, the viewer, and if you have any suggestions for improvements (besides something along the lines of "quit now you hopeless idiot") I would very much welcome them.

I have some big plans for my online activity, but anyone who knows me will testify that if I make promises they are things I'm most likely to end up breaking in some way, so for now I'll just say this; thank you for reading, and if you follow me in any regard thank you very, very much. There are surely better things for you to spend you time on, but every single view is something oddly special to me.

I'll be rolling out new content consistently within the coming week across YouTube, this blog, and other outlets and I hope you enjoy what I have to offer. If not, I'm sorry but I am just one insignificant guy with far to many ideas that I can actually implement, I just hope the ones with slip through are in some way 'good'.

Thanks for reading.
See you in the future.

The Numismatist In Me

Coins are fantastic things. You can be things with coins, you can sometimes receive coins for buying things too, you can ogle in awe at shiny coins, and stare in confusion or disgust at a beaten up coin which has clearly seen better days (before putting said coin towards a chocolate bar, video game, or whatever else your heart may desire).

Coins of course are just one part of currency, a system which keeps the whole world working wildly with wondrous writ (that makes sense doesn't it, I'm quite sure it does. It's getting late and I'm rather tired but hey-ho, I'll saunter on).

The matter at hand, as the clever little monkeys amoung you may have already divulged, is that I like coins. I would go so far as to say that I am a numismatist (see how it all links in with the title, oh aren't I clever). A numismatist, if you don't know and can't be arsed to search the term, is a person who study's or collects money, coins or medals. True it may seem like a rather grand, or even pompous hobby, and something which may be seen to be restricted to the well off; after all if someone has lots of money they can probably afford a slightly expensive distraction, however most hobbies, activities, and general recreational ventures do have some element of cost (but I'm getting distracted now, and what's with all these brackets? No more I say, it's getting silly)

Earthcore: What Be It?

Earthcore is the umbrella title of a collection of science fiction stories I've been working on for some time now. Over the years (because I'm lazy but also constantly changing things) the series has gone through multiple changes originally being a goofy buddy adventure, it soon developed into a futuristic war; followed by distopia, sci-fi/fantasy hybrid serial, and eventually it became the collection of stories set in the far flung future I am currently working on. Even now adjustments are being made to what I thought would be integral plot points, such is the curse of a stupid mind like mind.

Earthcore, as mentioned above is actually as series of stories:

  • Earthcore: The cliche tale of greed and desperation for control of resources leads to growing tensions. Eventual accidents and disaster plunge the world into chaos.
  • Earthcore - Aftershocks: In a way the actual starting point of the series (timelines, they can get a bit confusing). Aftershocks follows a group of resistance fighters who aren't necessarily on the right or wrong side. Deception, misdirection, and ever shifting powers result in growing tensions throughout a world still struggling to cope after the Earthcore incident hundreds of years earlier. Humanity looks set to destroy itself, without realising something far more dangerous is biding its time and has been manipulating the course of human development for almost a millennium.
  • Earthcore - The Fall of Crookdor: Look I tried my best to be a good boy and not give too much away about Aftershocks, so I'm saying nothing for Crookdor. Basically it's a thing which exists (or will exist when its done) and involves something called Crookdor falling. I hope it didn't get hurt to badly, I nearly fell over the other day and whacked my knee off the wall. It still hurts.
  • Earthcore - Gateway: Ohh I wonder what this could be (spoilers)
  • Earthcore - Minoris: Friendships are tested, lives are lost, and some heroes don't turn out how people expect. Pressure and the right situation can cause all sort of interesting results, will someone rise to the challenge or cower in fear clinging to the hope that someone else will clean up the mess which has now affected large sectors of space and time. For some there is no hope, but death doesn't have to be the end so long as you have the right connections.
  • Adextri Orlanis: Essentially a prequel, flashback thing taking in key events from a different angle.

So now that I've given you a post of bot all (in all fairness I never said I'd fully explain anything) You can feel free to moan at me about how much of your time I've wasted, although you probably have better things to do the pester this idiot.

Rest assured this is in the works and new content will be published (semi)-regularly. to keep track of this and all my other crap you check the MASTER SCHEDULE

Angry Automatic Door

Hello humans, how goes the day?

Automatic doors, they're brilliant aren't they? Well they can be and certainly should be, but there's always the ones which are just a little bit dickish. You know the ones I mean; the kind of door which wont upon until you've practically walked into it, and even then it slowly slides open mocking you like some kind of sadistic robot gatekeeper. Then there's the ones which are all too eager to close, perhaps they don't want to let the cold in, maybe they don't like my jumper, or feel threatened by my ridiculous height in some way. Whatever the reason these doors definitely have attitude issues.

They has the power

Hello humans.

I got talking to a friend of mine recently about words, particularly gender pronouns. Now I realise this can be an area of great discussion, especially on the Internet, and we got thinking about "they"; a very interesting and multi purpose thing.

The catalyst for this conversation came from understanding the best way to refer to our transgender friend, or any trans person for that matter. Obviously you could just use the gendered pronouns for that persons birth gender (in this case she/her), but it isn't always that simple. After all a trans person may be one gender but identify as another, therefore a more fluid description (they/their) seems appropriate.

This can be especially useful when talking with or about people you don't know very well, and I suppose many of us would lean towards this use of language instinctively so as not to cause offence. It is however not just a case of offending someone, but recognising who are what they are and wish to be. In a way the prescriptive idea of gendered pronouns can rob people of their identity, labelling them as something they may not hold true for themselves.

Bear in mind this is not just a trans issue, it can be applied to all sections if society. I know this is just a small issue, but one which is quite important for countless people. "They" may just be the most important word in our language.

Thanks for reading.
See you in the future.

GameLine: The Dawn of Digital Distribution

Back in 1983 something quite amazing was brewing in the gaming world, a development which would arguably changed and formed the way games were to be played going forward.

Developed by Control Video Corporation (CVC), GameLine is one of the earliest examples of digital distribution for video games. Employing the use of a  phone line and specialized storage cartridge users could rent and download games for up to 10 plays. Pretty impressive stuff, especially considering this was the early 80's. This wasn't a simple, single game gimmick either...

Pokemon Leaf Green 0.1

Hello humans, it's been a while. I've been overwhelmed with life things recently but enough about that boring crap, here's some slightly different boring crap.

So as you probably know I'm working on a hack of Pokemon Leaf Green (and if you don't know; welcome, it must be your first time here, you poor, poor soul), the hack is shaping up pretty nicely in some respects however when it comes to creating new and unique areas I suck, big time. Now don't get me wrong I can map just fine; in fact here's part of Pallet Meadow, an area just East of Pallet Town which will include special things...

Pokemon Vs Digimon

Hello humans. Recently I've been playing a fair amount of  Pokémon  as well as working on that Pokemon hack, but now I've also started re-watching Digimon. Now I know at the time of these franchises being released there was some disagreement in the playground as to which was better. Pokémon  had Pikachu, Ash, Brock, Misty, Team Rocket, Office Jenny, Nurse Joy, Professor Oak and well  Pokémon, and Digimon had Agumon, Gomamon, Gabumon, Tai, Matt, T.K. and the rest of the kids and of course Patamon!

At the time I loved both more or less equally, though I think I may have leaned slightly more towards Digimon. Thinking back I find this weird because while I was an avid follower of the show and collected Pokémon  cards and stickers (who didn't) and was obsessed with Pokemon Red, I didn't really consume that much Digimon madness. The card game made little sense to me and I never owned a Digimon video game, so why is it that I'm so drawn to this silly little show about kids and their guardian monsters? I think that last sentence may just be the answer, while  Pokémon  was something I understood from my experience with the games, Digimon seemed more enticing and special because every child had their own unique Digimon during their adventures in the digital world.

You're not here for simple musings about the past though, so let's spice this up a bit a pit the two shows against each other in a poorly thought out "which is best" analysis!

Musical Madness

Anyone whose known me for a while will know that I tend to throw myself at a range of different projects, and like some crazed fool covered in duct tape, Velcro, and glue I wait to see which projects will stick and proceed to obsess over them.

Fun With Fraps

Hello humans, I recently took to acquiring Fraps. With this new found recording power I can now capture footage for my immense PC game library. Now obviously as soon as I got the software running I had to test it out and what better game to play than one of my favourite shooters, Star Wars Battlefront.

Getting Slightly Ahead of Myself

Hello humans, how goes the day?!
As you most likely know already due to my previous ramblings I do let's plays, of videogames, a lot of the time, because fun and reasons. Now when the weekend comes you'd probably think I'd relax and leave the games alone for a bit. Well you'd be wrong, you donkey brained arse licker; asking me to go a prolonged period of time with only human interaction to sustain me is essentially asking for the rise of our dark lord Cthulhu to occur. I in fact use the weekends for more recording so as to maintain a buffer of games to be edited, rendered, and uploaded.

Pokemon Plans

Hello humans, as some of you may know I've been working on a little Pokemon hack so I decided to take this opportunity to share some of my progress on this project. The following are comparisons of a few early areas in the game; how they originally looked followed by my adjustments.

Route 1:

Along with the cosmetic changes, there are a number of 'new' Pokemon to be caught from the get go including: Zigzagoon, Spinda, and Spearow.

New Stuff to Pollute Your Eyes

Hello humans. Well the past few days have been slightly crazy, a mildly alcoholic celebratory weekend accompanied by video recording failures has resulted in a monumental slow down in my output of content, but everything is back on track now.

The final part of Sonic the Hedgehog went up today (catch the full playlist here) and will be followed by DK64 part 6, and Pikmin days 1-3; days 1 and 2 are being re-edited to improve the visual quality of the videos and introduce a more focused sense of continuity within the series.

Now with Sonic over and done with however there's a slight gap in the amount of Let's Plays I'm working on so... NEW POLL! at the top left of the blog you'll find options for games I wouldn't mind working on next, simply vote for whichever you'd most like to see next.

In other news, I have a little plan, a story really, which I'm working on and will be producing as some sort of audio play. I'm going to keep details pretty sparse at the moment just in case I give up on this idea before it actually gets anywhere but I don't think that will happen, this is something I've been wanting to do for quite a long time. Updates will follow soon.

See you in the future humans.

Pokemon and Other Things

Hello again humans, it isn't long now until I start the recording for the Pokemon Red Let's Play, with that in mind I have something pretty to show you. This sexy beast is the overlay I'll be using during the LP, not too bad right?
